Nervous system education for real life

Come back to yourself.

For women who are tired of living in overwhelm, overthinking, urgency, shutdown, or constant “go mode”—and want to understand what their nervous system is actually asking for.

Brooke, creator of Rooted & Rising

Hi, I’m Brooke

LMHC | Nervous System Coach

I help women understand their nervous system, build capacity, and create lasting change from the inside out.

You don’t have to do this alone.

My approach blends nervous system education, attachment perspectives, somatic practices, and small, supportive challenges to increase your capacity and create real, lasting change.

You are not failing at coping

Sometimes the missing piece is understanding the pattern underneath the reaction.

01

Understand your nervous system

Learn why your body can stay on alert, shut down, over-function, or struggle to settle—even when your mind knows you're safe.

02

See the attachment pattern

Explore how anxious, avoidant, secure, and mixed attachment patterns can shape the way you seek safety, closeness, space, reassurance, or control.

03

Expand your window of tolerance

Use small, intentional doses of challenge—never flooding—to gently increase your capacity for sensations, emotions, boundaries, uncertainty, and everyday stress.

04

Create new pathways

Learn how neuroplasticity supports change through repetition: noticing the old response, practicing a different one, and helping your brain build more flexible pathways over time.

“I know what I should do. I just can't seem to make my body believe it.”
Does this feel familiar?

Your nervous system may be asking for a different kind of support.

You feel exhausted, but relaxing makes you restless.
Small interruptions or noises feel disproportionately irritating.
You overthink, plan, or control because uncertainty feels hard.
You shut down or disconnect when life becomes too much.
You feel guilty resting or constantly need to be productive.
You understand your patterns intellectually but still feel stuck in them.
How change actually happens

Not by forcing yourself to be calm—but by giving your brain and body new experiences.

Rooted & Rising is built around the idea that your responses are learned patterns, not permanent traits. With awareness, repetition, and appropriately sized challenges, your nervous system can become more flexible over time.

Attachment

Understand the relationship underneath the reaction

Attachment gives us another lens for understanding why closeness, conflict, reassurance, independence, or vulnerability may feel different in your body. We use that perspective to increase awareness—not to box you into a label.

Capacity

Practice small exposures, not overwhelm

Growth often happens at the edge of your comfort zone. We use small, manageable exposures to things your system tends to avoid so you can gradually build tolerance without pushing into flooding or shutdown.

Neuroplasticity

Rehearse a new response until it becomes more available

Your brain changes through experience and repetition. Each time you notice an old pattern and practice a more regulated response, you give your nervous system another opportunity to strengthen a different pathway.

The education behind the work

Your brain can learn new patterns. Your body needs to experience them, too.

Understanding why you respond the way you do is powerful—but insight alone doesn't always change an automatic response. Rooted & Rising combines education with body-based practice so you can understand the science and begin applying it in everyday life.

Neuroplasticity

Your brain is capable of change.

Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to change and adapt in response to experience. Patterns that have become automatic can become deeply familiar—but familiar doesn't have to mean permanent.

When you repeatedly notice an old response and practice a different one, you give your brain new information. Over time, repetition can strengthen the neural pathways associated with that new response and make it more accessible.

In Rooted & Rising, you'll learn to:

Recognize automatic patterns before immediately acting on them.
Understand why repetition matters more than doing a regulation tool “perfectly.”
Pair new responses with experiences of enough safety and capacity.
Practice small changes repeatedly so new responses become easier to access.

The goal isn't to erase old pathways. It's to build more options so your nervous system doesn't have to rely on the same automatic response every time.

Somatic awareness

Learn the language of your body.

Somatic awareness means learning to notice what's happening inside your body—without immediately judging, fixing, or overriding it.

Your body often gives you information before your thoughts catch up: a tight jaw, shallow breathing, heaviness, restlessness, a racing heart, the urge to leave, or the feeling that you need to shut everything out.

You'll practice noticing:

Where activation, tension, heaviness, or ease show up in your body.
Your earliest physical cues that you're approaching overwhelm.
What sensations accompany safety, connection, boundaries, and stress.
Which grounding, movement, sensory, and orienting practices actually feel supportive to you.

The goal isn't to force your body to calm down. It's to become more connected to its signals and develop more choice in how you respond to them.

Where they come together

Notice → Experience → Practice → Repeat

You learn what is happening, notice how it shows up in your body, practice a manageable new response, and repeat it over time. That combination of education, embodied experience, and repetition is where meaningful learning can begin.

Meet Brooke

A softer, more curious way to understand what's happening inside you.

I'm Brooke, an LMHC and the creator of Rooted & Rising. My work is centered around helping women better understand the connection between nervous-system patterns, stress, relationships, and everyday overwhelm.

My coaching approach blends nervous-system education, somatic awareness, attachment-informed concepts, neuroplasticity, and gradual capacity-building. The goal is not just to understand your patterns intellectually, but to practice new responses in small enough doses that your brain and body can actually learn from them.

Rooted first. Then rising.

Professional note: Rooted & Rising coaching is educational and coaching-based. References to “small exposures” mean gentle, everyday capacity-building exercises—not trauma processing or exposure therapy. Coaching is not psychotherapy, diagnosis, crisis care, medical treatment, or a substitute for mental-health treatment.
